Proposal Photographer Florence
A marriage proposal is one of the most important moments of your life together. Having it documented by a professional photographer who knows how to be invisible, who understands the light and who can capture the genuine emotion of the moment without interrupting it, makes an extraordinary difference. I am Riccardo Pieri, a destination wedding photographer based in Tuscany, and I offer secret proposal photography sessions across Florence and Tuscany for couples planning the perfect moment.

How a Secret Proposal Session Works
A secret proposal session requires careful planning and complete discretion. Before the day I work with the person planning the proposal to understand the location, the timing and the approach. On the day I position myself in advance, out of sight, and document the entire moment as it unfolds naturally.
The person being proposed to has no idea I am there. The result is a collection of images that captures the genuine, unscripted emotion of the moment: the surprise, the tears, the laughter and the embrace that follows. These are among the most emotionally powerful photographs I create.
Proposal Photography Packages
Proposal sessions are typically between 1 and 2 hours, covering the moment itself and a short couples session immediately after. All packages include carefully edited high resolution images delivered to a private online gallery within 2 weeks. Rush delivery within 72 hours is available as an add-on for €150.

Planning Your Proposal Session
Successful proposal photography requires advance planning. I recommend getting in touch at least 2 to 4 weeks before the proposed date to allow time to coordinate the logistics, confirm the location and ensure everything is in place.
The most important elements to plan in advance are the location, the timing in relation to the light, and the approach: how you will position your partner, where I will be positioned and how the moment will unfold.
I have coordinated proposal sessions at locations across Florence and Tuscany and I am happy to share recommendations based on the time of year, the time of day and what atmosphere you are looking for.
The Best Locations for an Anniversary Session in Florence
Florence offers an extraordinary variety of settings for anniversary photography. I choose locations based on the time of day, the season and what atmosphere the couple wants to express.
The Boboli Gardens offer privacy, Renaissance beauty and soft light throughout the day, perfect for couples who want something intimate and removed from the tourist crowds. San Miniato al Monte provides one of the most extraordinary views over the entire city, particularly at golden hour. Ponte Vecchio and the Oltrarno create a more spontaneous, urban atmosphere with the Arno as a natural backdrop. Piazzale Michelangelo at sunrise is one of Florence's most beautiful and underused locations, ideal for couples who want something truly memorable.
Proposals Beyond Florence: Tuscany and Private Estates
Some of the most memorable proposals I have documented have taken place not in the city but at private estates across Tuscany. I photographed a proposal at Il Borro, the extraordinary medieval hamlet in the Valdarno area, and the combination of the historic setting, the vineyard landscape and the complete privacy of the estate created images that were genuinely unlike anything possible in a city environment.
Venues like Borgo Santo Pietro, Belmond Villa San Michele and Castiglion del Bosco offer similar possibilities for couples who want a proposal in a completely private and extraordinary setting. If you are planning a proposal at a luxury venue in Tuscany, I am happy to coordinate with the venue to ensure everything is in place.
You can find more information on the elopement photographer Tuscany page for couples who are planning a proposal as part of a larger intimate celebration.
The Best Locations for a Proposal in Florence
Florence offers some of the most romantic and visually extraordinary settings for a marriage proposal anywhere in the world.
Ponte Vecchio is the most iconic proposal location in Florence. The combination of the historic bridge, the Arno below and the warm light of the late afternoon creates images that are immediately recognisable and deeply romantic.
Piazzale Michelangelo at sunrise or golden hour offers a panoramic view over the entire city that few backdrops in the world can match. Early morning proposals here, before the tourist crowds arrive, have a quality of light and intimacy that is genuinely exceptional.
The Boboli Gardens provide privacy and Renaissance beauty in equal measure. A proposal among the formal gardens and stone statues, with the city visible below, feels timeless and completely removed from the everyday world.
The Oltrarno and the streets around Santa Croce offer a more spontaneous, urban atmosphere for couples who want something that feels genuinely Florentine rather than staged.
