Tuscany has become one of the most desired destinations in the world for couples planning a wedding in Italy. Rolling hills, historic villas, vineyards and medieval villages create a landscape that feels both timeless and romantic, attracting couples from the United States, the United Kingdom and across Europe every year.
Choosing the right venue is one of the most important decisions when planning a destination wedding. Tuscany offers an exceptional variety of locations, from Renaissance villas overlooking Florence to countryside estates surrounded by olive groves and vineyards.
As a wedding photographer who regularly documents destination weddings across the region, I have had the opportunity to work in many of the most iconic venues in Tuscany. In this guide I share some of the best luxury wedding venues I have photographed, with notes on what makes each one special from a photographic point of view. If you are exploring venues across the region, you may also discover more about my work as a Tuscany Wedding Photographer.
How to Choose a Luxury Wedding Venue in Tuscany
Every wedding venue in Tuscany has its own personality, light and rhythm. From a photographer's perspective, three elements make the biggest difference: the quality of natural light throughout the day, the variety of spaces available for ceremony, reception and portraits, and the connection between architecture and landscape. The best venues are not necessarily the most famous. They are the ones that suit your vision, your guest count and the kind of celebration you want to create. Some couples are drawn to the elegance of Renaissance villas in Florence, others to the wild beauty of countryside estates in Val d'Orcia or the intimacy of private hamlets in Chianti.
Villa Cora
Located on the hills just outside the historic center of Florence, Villa Cora is one of the most elegant wedding venues in Tuscany. This nineteenth century Belle Époque villa offers breathtaking views over the city and extraordinary interiors filled with frescoes, chandeliers and historic details. The gardens surrounding the villa provide a beautiful setting for outdoor ceremonies and sunset cocktails overlooking Florence. From a photographic perspective, Villa Cora offers an exceptional variety of light throughout the day: soft morning tones in the suites, golden afternoon light in the gardens and warm chandelier glow during evening receptions in the grand halls.

Il Borro
Il Borro is a private medieval village in the heart of Tuscany, surrounded by vineyards and rolling hills. Owned by the Ferragamo family, this estate is one of the most exclusive wedding destinations in Italy. Couples can celebrate their ceremony in historic courtyards, gardens or small churches within the village. The atmosphere here is intimate, refined and deeply connected to the Tuscan landscape. Il Borro is one of my favorite venues to photograph because every corner tells a story: cobblestone streets, ancient stone walls and panoramic views of the countryside create a setting that feels both authentic and cinematic.

Borgo Santo Pietro
Borgo Santo Pietro is a luxury estate located in the countryside near Siena. Surrounded by gardens, farmland and forests, this venue offers a unique combination of elegance, privacy and natural beauty. The property feels like a hidden Tuscan paradise and is perfect for couples looking for a refined yet relaxed destination wedding experience. The organic gardens, the seasonal flowers and the soft Sienese light make every wedding here visually different from the previous one. It is one of the most rewarding venues to photograph in Tuscany.

Castiglion del Bosco
Castiglion del Bosco is a historic estate in Val d'Orcia and one of the most prestigious wedding venues in Tuscany. The landscape here is iconic, with rolling hills, cypress trees and breathtaking views that define the beauty of the region. The estate offers several spaces for ceremonies and receptions, from elegant gardens to historic courtyards and terraces overlooking the Tuscan countryside. For couples who want their wedding photographs to capture the essence of classic Tuscany, this venue delivers on every frame.

Castello di Celsa
Castello di Celsa is a historic castle located in the countryside near Siena. Surrounded by vineyards and gardens, this venue combines the charm of an ancient residence with the atmosphere of the Tuscan countryside. Ceremonies often take place in the gardens while receptions unfold in the courtyard or in the elegant interior halls of the castle. The castle's formal Italian gardens, designed in the eighteenth century, are particularly remarkable: long geometric pathways and topiaries create a setting that feels almost theatrical when photographed at golden hour.

Villa Gamberaia
Villa Gamberaia is one of the most iconic historic villas overlooking Florence. Its famous gardens are considered among the most beautiful in Italy and create a spectacular setting for weddings and events. The terraces and panoramic views over the Tuscan landscape make this venue truly unforgettable. The water gardens and cypress hedges offer photographic opportunities that few other venues in Tuscany can match, especially during the soft light of late afternoon.

Villa La Selva
Villa La Selva is a wine estate located between Arezzo and Siena, set among rolling hills covered in vineyards and olive groves. The estate offers a relaxed and elegant atmosphere, perfect for couples who want a wedding deeply connected to the Tuscan countryside. From a photographic perspective, the wide open landscapes and the changing light over the vineyards create dramatic, cinematic backdrops at every hour of the day.
Villa Cetinale
Villa Cetinale is a seventeenth century baroque villa located in the hills near Siena. Surrounded by formal Italian gardens and a private park, this venue is one of the most refined and architecturally significant in Tuscany. The combination of historic facades, sculpted gardens and the surrounding wilderness creates a unique setting for an intimate luxury wedding. Photographing at Villa Cetinale means working with strong architectural lines balanced by the soft natural light of the Sienese countryside.
Villa Petrea
Villa Petrea is a private estate in the hills of Tuscany, ideal for couples looking for an exclusive and intimate setting. The villa offers a perfect balance between architectural elegance and the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. With its private gardens, panoramic views and refined interiors, it is a venue that lends itself beautifully to documentary wedding photography.
St Regis Florence
For couples who want a wedding in the heart of Florence, the St Regis is one of the most prestigious choices. Located along the Arno river, this five star hotel combines historic architecture with refined contemporary interiors. The ballrooms, the river views and the proximity to the most iconic locations in the city make it ideal for elegant urban weddings. Photographing here means capturing both the grandeur of the interiors and the timeless beauty of Florence just steps away.
